"If there is light in the soul

There will be beauty in the person.

If there is beauty in the person,

There will be harmony in the house.

If there is harmony in the house,

There will be order in the nation.

If there is order in the nation,

There will be peace in the world."

Lessons on Life

There was a man who had four sons. He wanted his sons to learn not to judge
things too quickly. So he sent them each on a quest, in turn, to go and look
at a pear tree that was a great distance away.

The first son went in the winter, the second in the spring, the third in
summer, and the youngest son in the fall.

When they had all gone and come back, he called them together to describe
what they had seen.

The first son said that the tree was ugly, bent, and twisted.

The second son said no it was covered with green buds and full of promise.

The third son disagreed; he said it was laden with blossoms that smelled so
sweet and looked so beautiful, it was the most graceful thing he had ever seen.

The last son disagreed with all of them; he said it was ripe and drooping
with fruit, full of life and fulfillment.

The man then explained to his sons that they were all right, because they
had each seen but only one season in the tree's life.

He told them that you cannot judge a tree, or a person, by only one season,
and that the essence of who they are and the pleasure, joy, and love that come
from that life can only be measured at the end, when all the seasons are up.

If you give up when it's winter, you will miss the promise of your spring,
the beauty of your summer, fulfillment of your fall.

Moral lessons:

Don't let the pain of one season destroy the joy of all the rest.
Don't judge life by one difficult season.
Persevere through the difficult patches and better times are sure to come some time

IF

If God took you to it, He'll get you through it.
If you're offended, there is only one answer: get over it.

Dance like nobody’s watching

Love like you’ve never been hurt.
Sing like nobody’s listening;
Live like it’s heaven on earth.”

Just For Today

Just for today I will be happy.

This assumes that what Abraham Lincoln said is true, that "most folks
are about as happy as they make up their minds to be." Happiness is from
within, it is not a matter of externals.

Just for today I will try to adjust myself to what is and not try to
adjust everything to my own desires.

I will take my family, my business and my luck as they come and fit
myself to them.

Just for today I will take care of my body.

I will exercise it, care for it, nourish it, not abuse it nor neglect
it, so that it will be a perfect machine for my bidding.

Just for today I will try to strengthen my mind.

I will learn something useful. I will not be a mental loafer. I will
read something that requires effort, thought and concentration.

Just for today I will I will exercise my soul in three ways.

I will do somebody a good turn and not get found out. I will do at least
two things I don't want to do, as William Janmes suggests, just for
exercise.

Just for today I will be agreeable.

I will look as well as I can, dress as becomingly as possible, talk low,
act courteously, be liberal with praise, criticize not at all, not find
fault with anything and not try to regulate nor improve anyone.

Just for today I will try to live through this day only.

Not to tackle my whole life problem at once. I can do things for twelve
hourse that would appal me if I had to keep them up for a lifetime.

Just for today I will have a program.

I will write down what I expect to do every hour. I may not follow it
exactly, but I will have it. It will eliminate two pests, hurry and
indecision.

Just for today I will have a quiet half-hour all by myself and relax.

In this half-hour sometimes I will think of God, so as to get a little
more perspective into my life.

Just for today I will be unafraid.

Especially I will not be afraid to be happy, to enjoy what is beautiful,
to love, and to believe that those I love, love me.

Tulips-Twolips

There are tulips in the garden
There are tulips in the park
But the twolips I like best
Are the two lips in the dark.

The FEMALE always makes the rules.

The RULES are subject to change at any time without prior notification...by the FEMALE.

No MALE can possibly know all the RULES.

If the FEMALE suspects the MALE knows all the RULES, she must immediately change some or all of them.

The FEMALE is never wrong.

If the FEMALE is wrong, it is due to a misunderstanding which was a direct result of something the MALE did or said wrong.

The MALE must apologize immediately for causing the misunderstandings.

The FEMALE may change her mind at any time.

The MALE must never change his mind without the express written consent of the FEMALE.

The FEMALE has every right to be angry or upset at any time.

The MALE must remain calm at all times, unless the FEMALE wants him to be angry or upset.

The FEMALE must, under no circumstances, let the MALE know whether or not she wants him to be angry or upset.

The Male is expected to "mind read" at all times.

The MALE who doesn't abide by THE RULES; can't take the heat, lacks backbone, and is a wimp!

Any attempt to document THE RULES could result in bodily harm.

The FEMALE is ready when SHE is ready.

The MALE must be ready at ALL times

What you can do

You must take personal responsibility.
You cannot change the circumstances,
the seasons, or the wind, but
you can change yourself"

The J-5 Rules

Many years ago the leaders of our local LDS Ward set forth
these rules, They are still in use today

J-5 Rules
1. Just say your prayers
2. Just read the scriptures dailey
3. Just be clean
4. Just testify and share spiritual experiences
5. Just express love to one another

President Hinckleys Bees

An Address and Prayer given to the Youth of the LDS Church in January 2001 by Satelite Broadcast From President Gordon B. Hinckley There are 9.
6 were given originally and 3 were added at a later date

The first 6 are::

Bee Grateful
Walk with gratitude in your hearts
Express appreciation to everyone who does us a favor or assists us in any way.

Bee Smart
Educate your minds and hands, whatever your chosen field. Whether it be repairing refrigerators, or the work of a skilled surgeon, you must train yourselves. Become an influence for good.

Bee Clean
We live in a world filled with filth and sleaze. We cannot afford to let it touch us. .Avoid evil talk. Do not take the name of the Lord in vain. . . .Choose your friends carefully. . . . While you should be friendly with all people, select with great care those whom you wish to have close to you. . . .

Bee True
Be true to your own convictions. You know what is right, and you know what is wrong. You know when you are doing the proper thing. You know when you are giving strength to the right cause. Be loyal. Be faithful. Be true.

Bee Humble
The meek and the humble are those who are teachable. They are willing to learn. They are willing to listen to the whisperings of the still, small voice for guidance in their lives. They place the wisdom of the Lord above their own wisdom.

Be Prayerful
You need His help, and you know that you need His help. You cannot do it alone. You will come to realize that and recognize that more and more as the years pass.

Here are the three new ones

Bee Positive

All of our feelings, beliefs and knowledge are based on our internal thoughts, both conscious and subconscious. We are in control, whether we know it or not.
We can be positive or negative, enthusiastic or dull, active or passive.

Bee Still

Be Still and know that I am God. He never said it would be easy He only said it would be worth it.
Peace be unto thy soul; thine adversity and thine afflictions shall be but a small moment; And then, if thou endure it well, God shall exalt thee on high; thou shalt triumph over all thy foes.
